Design

First Generation (1993-2004)

  • The initial Sportage had a traditional SUV design with a boxy, rugged appearance. It was available in both a short wheelbase two-door soft-top and a long wheelbase five-door version. The interior was functional and straightforward, aligned with the vehicle’s utilitarian focus.

Second Generation (2004-2010)

  • A significant design overhaul resulted in a more modern and urban-focused SUV. It adopted softer curves, a more cohesive front fascia, and a refined interior with improved materials and ergonomics.

Third Generation (2010-2016)

  • The third-gen Sportage took a leap forward in terms of design, adopting Kia’s then-new “Tiger Nose” grille. The body became more aerodynamic, with sleek headlamps, aggressive contours, and a modernized interior with advanced tech features.

Fourth Generation (2016-Present as of last update)

  • Further refining the design language of its predecessor, the fourth-gen Sportage is characterized by dynamic lines, a distinctive face with quad LED fog lights, and a premium-feeling interior. The layout is driver-centric, and material quality is noticeably improved.
