Design
First Generation (2000-2005)
The inaugural Rio had a rather conventional and straightforward design with few frills. It was developed primarily as an affordable and reliable transportation option, and its design reflected that purpose.
Second Generation (2005-2011)
The second-gen Rio presented a more contemporary look with a sharper design and a more cohesive aesthetic. The headlights became more angular, and the car’s overall stance was more assertive.
Third Generation (2011-2017)
This generation marked a significant leap in the Rio’s design language, adopting Kia’s then-new “Tiger Nose” grille and more aggressive, sculpted body lines. The interior also saw vast improvements in quality and design.
Fourth Generation (2017-Present as of last update)
Building on its predecessor’s foundation, the fourth-gen Rio boasts an even more refined and mature design. It features a lower and wider stance, a sleeker front end, and a more upscale interior.
